I reread “Boy’s Life” by Robert McCammon this weekend.
I don’t really have many words to describe this book, except to say that it’s magical.
I truly cannot describe this book, but if you’ve ever want to recapture the wonder of being twelve, this is the book for you.
I don’t often cry in public, but I couldn’t hold it in when I got to the end, and I regret nothing.
I’ve heard a ton of renditions of this song, but I think Ed Sheeran’s is the best.
Of all the money e’er I had,
I spent it in good company.
And all the harm I’ve ever done,
Alas! it was to none but me.
And all I’ve done for want of wit
To mem’ry now I can’t recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all.
Oh, all the comrades e’er I had,
They’re sorry for my going away,
And all the sweethearts e’er I had,
They’d wish me one more day to stay,
But since it falls unto my lot,
That I should rise and you should not,
I gently rise and softly call,
Good night and joy be with you all.
If I had money enough to spend,
And leisure time to sit awhile,
There is a fair maid in this town,
That sorely has my heart beguiled.
Her rosy cheeks and ruby lips,
I own she has my heart in thrall,
Then fill to me the parting glass,
Good night and joy be with you all.
Day 10 - Name five absolutely great film adaptations of books.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
A Time to Kill
The Godfather
Day 9 - Your favorite quotes about books
We need to make books cool again. If you go home with someone and they don’t have books, don’t fuck ‘em. - John Waters
Day 8 - Your favorite quotes from books
Cry, The Beloved Country - Alan Paton
For it is the dawn that has come, as it has come for a thousand centuries, never failing. But when that dawn will come, of our emancipation, from the fear of bondage and the bondage of fear, why, that is a secret.
Atlas Shrugged - Ayn Rand
He said it, his voice as low as hers, with the same sound of being forced past one’s breath, and she missed an instant of time, as in the stillness after a blow, because she felt that this-not the moments when he had carried her in his arms down the mountainside, but this meeting of their voices-had been the closest physical contact between them.
Trinity - Leon Uris
For you see, in Ireland there is no future, only the past happening over and over.
Ed Sheeran album came in the mail yesterday.
Except for “You Need Me, I don’t Need You”….I’d say it’s pretty solid.
Only listened to it once so far, but I’m impressed.
